Meet halfway in Montreal
For a group meeting in Montreal, the fairest points are usually Berri-UQAM, Lionel-Groulx, Jean-Talon or Snowdon - métro stations where two or three lines cross. Which one is fairest depends on where everyone starts: togather times each person door to door and finds the spots where nobody is stuck with a much longer trip.

Where groups actually meet in Montreal
Interchanges that work as a fair midpoint for most groups. togather will not always land on one of these - it answers for your actual starting points - but they are the ones that come up again and again.
Berri-UQAM
Green, Orange and Yellow lines
Three lines in one station, in the Quartier Latin, so most of the island reaches it with one change at most, and the Yellow line brings in anyone from Longueuil.
Lionel-Groulx
Green and Orange lines
The south-west crossing, next to Atwater Market, and fairer than downtown for a group living in Saint-Henri, Verdun or the south-west.
Jean-Talon
Orange and Blue lines
Next to Jean-Talon Market and Little Italy, and the fair answer for a group living in Rosemont, Villeray or the north of the Plateau.
Snowdon
Orange and Blue lines
The western crossing, and a good middle for a group with people in Côte-des-Neiges, NDG or along the Blue line.
Gare Centrale / Bonaventure
REM, the Orange line at Bonaventure and exo commuter trains
The downtown rail hub, and the fair pick for a group with someone coming in on the REM from the South Shore or the West Island.
Mont-Royal
Orange line, with BIXI stations all around
Not an interchange, but the heart of the Plateau, and often the fairest answer for a group where several people walk or cycle in from nearby.
How to pick a fair meeting point in Montreal
Montreal’s métro has only four lines, which makes the interchanges matter even more. Two friends a short distance apart on a map can still need to ride into Berri-UQAM and back out if they live on different lines.
So start with the crossings. Berri-UQAM joins three lines, and most of the island reaches it with a single change. Lionel-Groulx joins the Green and Orange lines in the south-west, and Jean-Talon and Snowdon join the Orange line to the Blue line in the north and west. The REM adds a new set of lines from the South Shore and the West Island into Gare Centrale.
Rosemont and Villeray meet at Jean-Talon, the south-west at Lionel-Groulx
Downtown is not automatically fair. A group living in Rosemont, Villeray and Little Italy is better served by Jean-Talon. A group in the south-west is better served by Lionel-Groulx than by a trip into the centre.
The season matters too. Between spring and autumn, many people cycle on BIXI or walk, and in winter they take the métro. togather lets you set each person to BIXI, walking, métro or car, so a July plan and a January plan can give different answers. It times every journey from each person’s own starting point and points to the stations where those times line up.
Meeting halfway in Montreal - questions
- Where is a fair place to meet halfway in Montreal?
- Usually a métro interchange rather than the map's middle - Berri-UQAM is the classic answer, and Lionel-Groulx, Jean-Talon or Snowdon can be fairer depending on where the group lives. togather works out which.
- Can some of us cycle on BIXI?
- Yes. Set the mode per person. Between spring and autumn many short trips in Montreal are faster by bike than by métro, and togather times that person's trip by bike rather than averaging it in with everyone else's.
