Meet halfway in Guadalajara

For a group meeting in Guadalajara, the fairest points are usually Mi Tren interchanges - Juárez, Ávila Camacho or Guadalajara Centro - or Periférico Belenes where Line 3 meets Mi Macro Periférico, though cars and buses still carry most trips. togather times each person door to door and finds the spots where nobody is stuck with a much longer trip.

Where groups actually meet in Guadalajara

Interchanges that work as a fair midpoint for most groups. togather will not always land on one of these - it answers for your actual starting points - but they are the ones that come up again and again.

  1. Juárez

Mi Tren lines 1 and 2

Where the north-south Line 1 meets Line 2 under Avenida Juárez, at the edge of the historic centre, and the most reachable rail point in the city.

  2. Ávila Camacho

Mi Tren lines 1 and 3

The northern crossing between Line 1 and Line 3, and the fair answer for a group split between Zapopan and the north side of Guadalajara.

  3. Guadalajara Centro

Mi Tren Line 3, with a transfer to Line 2

Under the historic centre by the cathedral, which gives a group somewhere to actually go once everyone arrives, not just a platform to change on.

  4. Periférico Belenes

Mi Tren Line 3 and Mi Macro Periférico

Where Line 3 meets the ring-road BRT in Zapopan, and fairer than the centre for a group living along the Periférico on the north-western side of the city.

  5. Periférico Sur

Mi Tren Line 1 and Mi Macro Periférico

The southern end of Line 1 on the ring road, and the natural pick for a group based in the south, around Tlaquepaque and towards Tlajomulco.

  6. Tlaquepaque Centro

    Mi Tren Line 3

On Line 3 a short walk from the old centre of Tlaquepaque, and the right call for a group spread across the south-east who want a plaza and restaurants to meet at.

How to pick a fair meeting point in Guadalajara

Guadalajara is a sprawling metropolitan area, joined to Zapopan, Tlaquepaque and Tonalá, and most trips are still made by car or bus. Rail is growing but thin: Mi Tren’s lines cross in only a few places. So the map’s midpoint usually lands on a busy avenue that suits whoever happens to drive, while the person on transit needs two buses to get there.

The points that work for everyone are where the fast networks meet. Juárez joins lines 1 and 2, Ávila Camacho joins lines 1 and 3, and Guadalajara Centro links Line 3 to Line 2 under the historic centre. Out on the ring road, the Mi Macro Periférico BRT meets the trains at Periférico Belenes and Periférico Sur, which matters for anyone living in the outer districts.

Zapopan, the south-east and mixed groups each have their own answer

The historic centre is not always fair. A group split between Zapopan and the north is better served by Ávila Camacho or Periférico Belenes than by a ride downtown. A group in the south and south-east is better off at Tlaquepaque Centro or Periférico Sur. A mixed group, with some people driving and others on the train, often does best at a station with parking and a plaza nearby.

From June to September, afternoon storms can flood underpasses and slow the whole road network, which makes a short trip worth even more. When those storms hit, a driver on the Periférico and a rider on Line 3 feel them very differently. togather works out each person’s journey the way they will really travel, by car, bus or train, and looks for meeting spots where those times sit close together. Add the addresses and compare the stations it suggests with the plazas around them.

Meeting halfway in Guadalajara - questions

Where is a fair place to meet halfway in Guadalajara?
Usually a Mi Tren interchange rather than the map's middle - Juárez for the centre, Ávila Camacho for Zapopan, Periférico Belenes or Periférico Sur for the ring road. togather works out which from everyone's starting point.
Most of us drive. Does it still work?
Yes, and in Guadalajara that is common. Driving times come from real road routes, so someone crossing the city on López Mateos or the Periférico is not treated as though they were as close as the map suggests.
