How to pick a fair meeting point in Dubai

Dubai is worth being blunt about, because it is the one city on this list where the transit answer only goes so far. The Metro is two lines running along the main corridors, and they cross in exactly two places - BurJuman and Union. If your group is spread along Sheikh Zayed Road or the Marina, that is genuinely enough. If people are out in the villa communities, in Al Quoz, or anywhere off the corridor, no station is a fair meeting point and pretending otherwise wastes everyone’s time.

The second thing is the city’s shape. Dubai is linear, not radial - it stretches along the coast rather than spreading from a centre. So the midpoint between two people is frequently on the wrong side of a highway, with the nearest crossing some distance away. Distance on a map is a particularly bad guide here.
