Meet halfway in Cape Town
For a group meeting in Cape Town, the fairest points are usually the Civic Centre in the city bowl, the V&A Waterfront, Century City or Claremont, served by MyCiTi buses or Metrorail trains. Most Capetonians drive, so togather times each person door to door on the mode they use and finds the spots where nobody is stuck with a much longer trip.

Where groups actually meet in Cape Town
Interchanges that work as a fair midpoint for most groups. togather will not always land on one of these - it answers for your actual starting points - but they are the ones that come up again and again.
Civic Centre
MyCiTi hub, beside Cape Town station on Metrorail
The main MyCiTi interchange in the city bowl, a short walk from the central railway station, and the default fair answer for a group spread across the city bowl, the Atlantic seaboard and the northern suburbs.
V&A Waterfront
MyCiTi, plus car via the N1 and Helen Suzman Boulevard
The city's most familiar meeting place, with parking and plenty of places to eat, and fairer than the city bowl when part of the group is coming from Sea Point or Green Point.
Century City
MyCiTi, plus car via the N1
Sits on the N1 between the city and the northern suburbs, with Canal Walk as an easy landmark, which makes it a fair middle for a group split between Milnerton, the city and Bellville.
Claremont
Metrorail Southern Line, plus car via the M5 and Main Road
The commercial heart of the southern suburbs, with Cavendish Square by the station, and the fair answer for a group living between Rondebosch, Newlands and Wynberg.
Bellville
Metrorail Northern Line, plus car via the N1 and Voortrekker Road
The main centre of the northern suburbs, and fairer than anywhere in town for a group with people starting in Durbanville, Parow or Kuils River.
Table View
MyCiTi, plus car via the R27 and Blaauwberg Road
The anchor of the Blaauwberg coast, which keeps a group from Parklands, Bloubergstrand and Milnerton from having to drive into the city to meet.
Sea Point
MyCiTi, plus walking along the Sea Point Promenade
Walkable and full of cafes on the Atlantic seaboard, and a fair pick for a group living between Green Point, Fresnaye and Camps Bay.
How to pick a fair meeting point in Cape Town
Cape Town has a mountain in the middle of it, and that changes everything about meeting halfway. Table Mountain and its neighbours split the city bowl, the Atlantic seaboard and the southern suburbs, so roads go around rather than across. Draw a line between a friend in Camps Bay and one in Claremont and the midpoint is up on the rock.
Distance misleads in the other direction too. The N1 and N2 make the northern suburbs and the Cape Flats quicker to reach than they look, while a short hop along the Atlantic coast can crawl in summer traffic. MyCiTi buses and Metrorail trains are useful on their corridors, but most groups will include at least one driver.
Century City sits between Milnerton and Bellville on the N1
A city-bowl group is well served by the Civic Centre or the V&A Waterfront, with Sea Point a better fit when everyone lives on the Atlantic side. When part of the group is in Milnerton or Bellville, Century City sits between them on the N1. Southern suburbs groups should look at Claremont, and a crowd up the West Coast at Table View. When most people live further out along the N1, Bellville is the fairer pick.
Mixed groups are the norm: one person on MyCiTi from Table View, another driving from Constantia, a third walking from Gardens. Those three trips have little in common, so togather times each one on its own terms and looks for the places where the times come out similar. Add the group’s starting points, and the choice between the Waterfront and Century City stops being a guess.
Meeting halfway in Cape Town - questions
- Where is a fair place to meet halfway in Cape Town?
- Often the Civic Centre or the V&A Waterfront for a city-bowl group, Century City for one split with the northern suburbs, and Claremont for the south. togather works out which from everyone's real travel times.
- Why is Table Mountain such a problem for meeting points?
- Because the mountain sits in the middle of the city and roads go around it. The midpoint between Camps Bay and Claremont is on the mountain itself, and the real drive between them is far longer than the map distance suggests.
- Does togather include minibus taxis?
- No. Minibus taxi routes are informal and not timed. Each person can choose car, MyCiTi or Metrorail, bike or walking, and the result is built from those journeys.
