Meet halfway in Lima
For a group meeting in Lima, the fairest points are usually on the two fast lines - Estación Central or Ricardo Palma on the Metropolitano, or Gamarra and La Cultura on Metro Line 1 - because buses and cars carry most trips through heavy traffic. togather times each person door to door and finds the spots where nobody is stuck with a much longer trip.

Where groups actually meet in Lima
Interchanges that work as a fair midpoint for most groups. togather will not always land on one of these - it answers for your actual starting points - but they are the ones that come up again and again.
Estación Central
Metropolitano trunk routes and expresos
The underground hub of the Metropolitano beneath Paseo de los Héroes Navales, in the historic centre, where every northern and southern route passes through.
Ricardo Palma
Metropolitano trunk routes along the Vía Expresa
In the middle of Miraflores, and the fair answer for a group spread between Miraflores, San Isidro and Barranco who all live near the Vía Expresa.
Gamarra
Metro Line 1
In La Victoria, on the elevated line between the south and the north-east, and a good middle for a group split between San Juan de Lurigancho and the southern districts.
La Cultura
Metro Line 1
On Avenida Aviación by San Borja, and fairer than the centre for a group living in San Borja, Surquillo and Santiago de Surco on the Line 1 side of the city.
Grau
Metro Line 1
The Line 1 station closest to the historic centre, and the natural pick when the group mixes Line 1 riders with people who can walk or bus into downtown.
Naranjal
Metropolitano northern terminus and feeder buses
The northern terminal in Independencia, and the fair choice for a group based in Los Olivos, Comas or San Martín de Porres rather than a long ride south.
Matellini
Metropolitano southern terminus and feeder buses
The southern terminal in Chorrillos, and fairer than Miraflores for a group living in Chorrillos, Surco and the southern districts beyond them.
How to pick a fair meeting point in Lima
Lima is huge, low-rise and almost entirely served by road. The rail network is thin: Metro Line 1 runs on a viaduct from Villa El Salvador to San Juan de Lurigancho, and only the first short stretch of Line 2 is open, in Ate and Santa Anita. Most trips are by bus, combi, taxi or car, and traffic on the big avenues makes distance a poor guide to time.
That is why the map’s midpoint fails. A point that looks central can sit on an avenue that is gridlocked at the hour you meet. The two fast spines matter most: the Metropolitano, whose buses run in their own lanes along the Vía Expresa through Estación Central and Ricardo Palma, and Line 1, which crosses the east through Gamarra and La Cultura.
The coast meets at Ricardo Palma, the east at La Cultura
The coast and the east are different cities for getting around. A group living in Miraflores, San Isidro and Barranco is better served by Ricardo Palma than by a ride to the centre. A group spread across San Borja, Surco and San Juan de Lurigancho is better off near La Cultura or Gamarra. Groups from the far north or south can do better at Naranjal or Matellini.
It almost never rains in Lima, so walking the last stretch is a real option. togather adds that walk to each person’s bus, Metro or car journey, compares the totals and suggests stops where the times are close. For a coastal group that is often a Metropolitano station; for an eastern one, a stop on Line 1.
Meeting halfway in Lima - questions
- Where is a fair place to meet halfway in Lima?
- Usually a stop on the Metropolitano or Metro Line 1 rather than the map's middle - Estación Central or Ricardo Palma for the coast side, Gamarra or La Cultura for the east. togather works out which from everyone's start.
- Most of us take the bus or drive. Does it still work?
- Yes, and in Lima that is the normal case. Set the mode per person: driving times come from real road routes, and transit times include buses where they are the fastest option, so nobody is placed as close as the map suggests.
