How togather compares to Equidistance
Equidistance and togather both find a meeting place where everyone's journey takes about the same time, free and in the browser. Equidistance is a light tool for up to four people, with an arrive-by time and cafe, pub, restaurant or park suggestions. togather takes up to eight people, each with their own travel mode, so nobody is stuck with a much longer trip.

Small group or bigger group
Equidistance and togather start from the same observation: halfway on a map is not halfway in time. Both look for a place where everyone’s journey takes about the same time, both suggest real places to go, and both are free in the browser with no sign-up.
Equidistance: quick and light, up to four
Equidistance is deliberately simple. Add up to four people, pick how you’re getting there, choose a cafe, pub, restaurant or park (or let it surprise you), and set the time you want to arrive. The arrive-by time is a nice touch for weekday plans, where transit times shift with the hour. For a pair or a small group, it is a fast way to settle on somewhere.
togather: bigger groups, mixed modes
togather is built for the case that is hardest to work out by hand: a group of up to eight in a city, arriving different ways. Each person gets their own travel mode, so the friend on a bike and the friend on the metro are each timed on their own network. Every candidate is scored on the average journey plus the gap between the longest and the shortest, so trips stay short for the whole group and nobody is stuck with a much longer one.
Send the result to the group chat and anyone not on the plan yet can add where they’re starting from; the spot re-centres to include them.

Questions
- Is togather a good Equidistance alternative?
- Yes, especially for groups of five to eight, or when people in the group travel different ways. togather sets a mode per person and balances the whole group's travel time.
- When is Equidistance the better pick?
- For two to four people when you want a quick pub, cafe, restaurant or park suggestion and need everyone to arrive by a set time. togather has no arrive-by setting.
- Do both use travel time instead of distance?
- Yes. Both look for a place where journeys take about the same time, rather than a geographic midpoint, using public transport, driving, cycling or walking times.
- How does togather decide which place is fair?
- It scores every candidate on the average journey for the group plus the gap between the longest and the shortest trip, weighted equally. A place that is quick for most people but slow for one loses.
